Serengeti Silhouettes
The 5th graders learned about the Serengeti Migration in Africa and how the grass fed animals migrate annually due to a lack of rain in certain parts of Tanzania and Kenya. Students then learned about the geographical areas found in Africa such as: grasslands, woodlands, volcanic, and kopies (large rocky outposts). Students then chose an African animal and geographical landscape to draw using silhouettes. Students drew their image in black sharpie on transparency sheets, created a tissue paper collage for the background, and created a tribal pattern for the border using metallic colored pencils.
