cave paintings
The 2nd graders traveled to southwestern France where the oldest form of cave paintings were discovered in the Lascaux Cave. This cave is best known for its Paleolithic art which is estimated to be over 17,300 years old! These cave paintings mainly consist of buffalo, cattle, cats, rhino, bears, birds, deer, horses, humans and abstract signs and symbols. 2nd grade made their own cave paintings by distressing their paper and creating cave drawings out of oil pastels.
